Third Annual Running in Pink 5K
Living in Pink’s Foundress, Michele Conley, had a dream to organize a race to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money to support medical research in the hopes of one day finding a cure for this devastating disease. Sadly, she did not live to see this dream fulfilled, but Michele’s “running group”, an amazing group of women from many different walks of life, took her idea and ran with it. Thus, the Running in Pink 5K was born in 2015. It has proved to be not only an event to promote awareness, but a chance to celebrate life and challenge ourselves to be fit and healthy.
The 2018 Running in Pink 5K on Saturday, April 21st will be held at a new location this year on the scenic C&O Canal. The starting point will be at The Carderock Recreation Area at 9:00 AM, where we will be running and walking on a nice flat course along the canal. This is a fun, family friendly event for everyone, from serious runners to couch potatoes. It is a lot of fun and a great way to get out and get some exercise. You can start a team and ask others to join, do some fundraising, register as an individual, or just come out and support a great cause.
There will be free parking and refreshments, and we will gather at Cactus Cantina for a post-race celebration. All participants are welcome.
